Alumni Field,
constructed in 1996 when the new high school was built,
is located on the north side of town. A John Deere
2653A mows the turf area of the field at a height of 7/8
inches. From May to October, mowing occurs 3 times a week on the bermudagrass.
The ryegrass is down in late October through
May and mowed daily. |

Special care is given to the infield and its
playability. The infield is dragged with a nail mat to help
break up the mix and then a regular flat mat is used to smooth out
the infield. Aerification is performed 4 times during the year
and the field is top-dressed in August and November. The budget
for Alumni Field is under $4,000/yr. This amount pays for the sand,
clay, fertilizer, chemicals, etc.
