Turf Landscape Maintenance, 10,000 Sq. Ft. & Above

Winner:  Texas Medical Center

 

In the 1100 acres of Texas Medical Center, there are 1,940,000 sq. ft. of high quality turf and landscape managed by the Grounds Department.  There are several grass types within Texas Medical Center which include:  twenty acres of Common St. Augustine, five acres of Raleigh St. Augustine, three acres of Common Bermuda, and one and one half acres of Zoysia. 

 

Each grass type is well manicured and cared for with known horticultural techniques combined into a turfgrass program.  During the cooler periods of the year, the common property areas within the central campus are overseeded with perennial rye grass at a target rate of five pounds per 1,000 sq. ft.
