President's Message - January

Welcome to the 61^st year of the Texas Turfgrass Association.  I hope many of you were able to share our 60^th anniversary during our 2007 summer conference in College Station and our winter conference in San Antonio. The comments I have heard from members and industry show vendors have been very positive and full of praise. The general sessions opening the winter conference were broad based and brought insight to all the sections of our membership. The special interest sessions had excellent attendance and attentive learners. Add to all that the great show put on by our vendors, a beautiful river walk as backdrop, and what more could you ask for in a conference!

You probably noticed that our motto during ‘07 was “sixty years strong—come grow with us”. Be assured that the growing is still going strong in 2008 also. Your board of directors and I are already at work planning ways to better serve you and to expand our Association influence throughout the state. If you have questions we can help with or suggestions you’d like to share, please feel free to contact our invaluable executive director, Shirley Duble, or me. My email is Shellene@plano.gov. It seems as if I am on the computer 24 hours a day, so I can usually get back to you pretty quickly.  Long before the phrase was coined in business literature, I was a subscriber to the servant- leader concept and am looking forward to working with you all this year. I’m pleased and honored to be serving as your TTA president.
